SP Critique & Editing Services

SP CRITIQUE & EDITING SERVICES
I can help at any stage in your manuscript's life cycle. Whether you're just starting out as writer, have an agent waiting for a revised manuscript, or are about to self-publish, I tailor each project to meet your editorial needs - from basic proofreading to a First30 (critique of the all-important first 30 pages) to a full-manuscript critique with line edits.

Most of my current clients write young adult/teen, new adult, and adult fiction; I also have experience with short stories, literary fiction, creative non-fiction, and other genres. I will also consider business documents.

Please contact me for rates, policies and procedures, and to discuss the scope of your project.

MY SERVICES

TIER ONE – BASIC EDIT
A Basic Edit approach is a thorough check of spelling, word use (incorrect use, overused words), grammar, and sentence structure. Basic edits do not include comments on content.

TIER TWO – CONTENT EDIT
Content or substantive edits focus solely on story components such as pacing, plot, characterization, setting (world building), story structure, point of view, and other narrative elements. This is a  thorough critique that will indicate what works well and offer suggestions for elements that need improvement; it does not include comments on basic edits such as spelling or grammar.

TIER THREE – COMPREHENSIVE EDIT
The Comprehensive Edit is a combination of Tier One and Tier Two edits, a full manuscript critique that will address both level of the word issues and all narrative components. A Comprehensive Edit provides the most thorough and beneficial examination of the manuscript.

OTHER SERVICES
First30 – Critique and basic edits for the all important first 30 pages of your manuscript. Not only will this include line level comments and suggestions on word choice, I’ll provide a critique of story elements such as pacing, plot, characterization, structure, and more. Prior to submitting your manuscript, you’ll complete a brief questionnaire so that I have a solid understanding of the story.

Basic Proofreading – For a manuscript that has already been thoroughly edited, proofreading is the final step before self publishing or submitting to agents or editors. This is a thorough check for spelling, misused words, and general, glaring omissions or errors in the text.

Query/Synopsis Critique Critique and basic edit of your query and/or synopsis.

CUSTOM PACKAGES
Multi-Round Editorial Package – includes two or three rounds of editing at discounted rates.

Query/Submission Package – a la carte package to include manuscript, query, and/or synopsis editing at discounted rates. I'll help you put your best foot forward as you query agents and/or editors.

All packages will be customized based on your manuscript and your editing needs. Please email to discuss rates and to build your personalized editing package.

Comments

  1. English editor is a key for your potential writing texts: an incredible editor which is very brainy and does not miss even punctuation while undergoing corrections. Correction made by this service does not demand checking of texts again and again.
