Ready. Set. Write! :: I Voted Edition


Ready. Set. WRITE! is an online writing intensive to help you stay accountable with your writing goals over the summer and provides an opportunity for us to cheer each other on whether planning, drafting, or revising! How I did on last week's goals:
  • Write every day. No, but I did revise 75 pages on Tuesday while I worked as a judge in the very slow primary election. I'd call that a win.
  • Read every day. YES!
  • Return two CP manuscripts to the authors. I returned one, made good progress on the other, and did a lot of client work.
  • Drink tons of water/go easy on the carbs. So-so.
  • Work out three times. Whoops, no, but I got one in. That's good, right?
My goals for this week:
See above. Work has been completely insane for the last six weeks or so, and on Wednesday my new boss starts, so hopefully we'll settle into a new routine soon and I can get back to writing during my lunch breaks and not doing so much work-work at home.
A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised:

There’s a click as he ends the call, and the guilt seeps from my ear, my phone still pressed against it, down to my flip-flops, filling me, spilling over onto the tile floor of the fancy hotel lobby.  
The biggest challenge I faced this week: Work plus exhaustion.

Something I love about my WiP: That no matter how many days we're apart, it's still there in its raw beauty, waiting for me patiently, waiting for me to love it and nurture it again. Someday, this will be a book.

  4. 75 pages is amazing! I think you made your goal just by accomplishing that. So, I'm doing the healthy eating thing and exercising, and most days (Friday nights are for indulging, and Sunday night I had a glass of wine) I am doing well. I am not as great about exercising yet. I did three days last week, but hopefully that number will improve when Sam starts bcd to school.

  6. I feel ya on work getting in the way of personal writing. Hopefully this week will be easier on you. Good luck hitting your goals this week! Hopefully we'll be on Twitter working at the same time at some point so we can cheer each other on.
