Ready, Set, WRITE! :: 2015 Edition
Happy June! Happy Summer!
It's time once again for one of my favorite writing intensives, Ready. Set. WRITE!, hosted by Alison Miller, Katy Upperman, Erin Funk, Elodie Nowodazkij, and Jaime Morrow. (More details can be found on their websites.)
Participating in RSW is a great way to set and work toward goals, get to know other writers, and help hold one another accountable.
This year, update posts will be on Mondays and will follow these headings:
1. How I did on last week’s goals
2. My goal(s) for this week
3. A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised
4. The biggest challenge I faced this week (ex. finding time to write)5. Something I love about my WiP
Today's post is all about setting initial goals.
I just "completed" the YA Buccaneers Spring Writing Bootcamp, but I didn't do so well. I'm committed to making RSW a success again this year.
MY OVERALL GOALS:
- Complete current round of revisions for THE LAST THING YOU SAID (soon!)
- Complete revisions for THE MANUSCRIPT FORMERLY KNOWN AS KEYS (by the end of summer)
- Get outside! The weather is finally nice in Minnesota (knock on wood), so I hope to be able to write and read and play outside a lot. We just spent a couple of days in my most favorite place, Duluth. We braved the "lake breeze" to search for agates on Brighton Beach and climbed to the top of Enger Tower.
- Complete the YA Buccaneers Summer Reading Challenge.
|Annual Empty Shoes photo on Lake Superior|
|Enger Tower - Duluth, Minnesota|
- Finish revisions on THE LAST THING YOU SAID.
- Read one book for the YAB Summer Reading Challenge.
- Survive the week - it's a super crazy one with marching band and a parade for Toad, swimming lessons for both kids every night, drum lessons, a swim test for Toad's Scout camp - and my husband is out of town. All of this and a full-time job, too! Whoop!
Will you be joining in the RSW fun?
omg you have a million things going on this week. *hands you eight gallon cup of coffee* Good luck! :)ReplyDelete
Best of luck with your goals this summer, Sara! I'm confident you'll rock your revisions. And I love your goal of getting outside. Enjoy the sunshine!ReplyDelete
Your week sounds pretty hectic! Good luck with your goals! :)ReplyDelete
I'm determined to finish the YAB Reading Challenge, too. Last year I started off strong but then fizzled out.ReplyDelete
Good luck with your revisions and hope your week isn't too crazy!
Busy week! Good luck meeting all your goals. I'm taking part in the YAB summer reading challenge too, should be fun.ReplyDelete
Love that picture from the beach
Your week sounds hectic, but I'm sure you can get your goals done!ReplyDelete
Good luck with your goals! Love the pics.ReplyDelete
I signed up for the YA Spring Writing Boot Camp and totally crashed and burned right at the very beginning. (Bad timing, I guess.) So, here's to both of us meeting our goals and rocking RSW! :DReplyDelete
I love the goals for getting outside, they sound fun. :) Good luck with surviving the week, it looks hectic!ReplyDelete
Good luck with your summer goals! I also need to keep getting outside more, particularly since I live near a pond. It's so fun watching the goose family and seeing how big the goslings are getting, though it's sad to see they've gone from six to five to now only four.ReplyDelete
WOW your week sounds hectic! Good luck with your goals...you can do it!ReplyDelete
And I just hopped on the YA Buccaneers reading challenge bandwagon. It sounds like tons of fun!
Happy writing, Sara!
Crazy week! I hope you manage time to fit in some of your goals! :)ReplyDelete
And when this revision is finished I do so hope (expect) to see it in my inbox so I can read it. Yes? Okay good.ReplyDelete
Good luck with revision and the rest of your goals for the summer. :D Thanks for sharingReplyDelete
Best of luck making all this happen! I love those pics!ReplyDelete
I intend to do this, and also the reading challenge! Writing: new project, and books/reading I have about 5 books started and need to finish SOMETHING.ReplyDelete
Last round of revisions, sounds like you're getting close. Whoohoo and good luck.ReplyDelete
Good luck with your goals for the summer! Getting outside is definitely important, says a person who is a hermit haha. I hope I can get outside and enjoy the weather (when it isn't rainy and extremely hot) too :)ReplyDelete
Hi, Sara. Isn't grand that summer is finally here? There's a special feeling to getting some writing done outside in the fresh air as opposed to staring out a window from a desk. I hope you have a lot of joy achieving those goalsReplyDelete
Ha! I have a story FORMERLY KNOWN AS too that I'm working on this summer. :) Also, I love that you set getting outside as one of your goals. Good luck this week!ReplyDelete
I love that you included to get outside as one of your goals! That is so, so important. And your pictures of Minnesota are gorgeous! Good luck, Sara!ReplyDelete
I can't wait to write with you this summer! I love these sorts of things--hooray for bringing writers together! Good luck on your goals :)ReplyDelete
Holy cow, you have a lot going on this week! Good luck with all your goals and keeping the home fires burning. PS: I love your annual empty shoes photos. :)ReplyDelete
Hope you rock your revisions this week! I'm in total editing mode this summer as well. At least until the revisions are *done* (enough). I do kinda love the revising stage though. It's like putting on the extra layers of polish, or like the horrid reality TV sow I inadvertantly watched last night gluing the extra "bling" on it. Except classier.ReplyDelete
Wow! Busy week for you! Hope you're able to carve out some time for your goals. =) And I LOVE the title THE MANUSCRIPT FORMERLY KNOWN AS KEYS. Such a winner! I'd totally pick that up!ReplyDelete
Time on the lake sounds like a perfect way to recharge for all the hard work I know you're going to kick ass doing! (If you get through this week -- but only one day left now!)ReplyDelete
