Would You Dance?

My Best Buy family lost one of our kindest, most generous, most caring members over the weekend.

Richard and I worked together a million years ago at Best Buy 281 in Richfield, Minnesota, usually that beautiful early morning shift of 5:45 am to 2:15 pm. Those hours before the store opened were my favorite time of day, when we could get a lot of work done, we could crank the music of our choice, and we had a lot of laughs.

That's something I'll always remember about Richard - the laughs. He always had a smile on his face. Even when I was pissed off about something (and I usually was - I mean, come on, this was retail. And I had employees), he could find a way to make me feel better - or a way to plot world domination when we got to the Corporate Office.

It's been a long time since I've seen my friend, but we reconnected on Facebook in recent years. He cheered me on during my journey to publication and I gave him grief for being a New Orleans Saints fan.

One of his last Facebook posts was a video - Perth Train Party v2. His comment: "I would dance for sure! Nice way to start my day today."

And now he is gone.

What about you? Would you dance? I hope to dance a lot more.

Rest in peace, Richard. The world is a better place because you were here to dance and laugh with us.

  1. Awesome co-workers really do make any job better. Sorry to hear about the passing of someone important to you. This is a lovely tribute and a reminder to dance, no matter where we're at.
