30DSC: A Song That Makes You Happy

30-Day Song Challenge Day 3: A Song That Makes You Happy

This is an easy one.  My heart swells with joy upon hearing the opening notes of this song.  Pure bliss.  And it's been that way since I was a kid, when we'd hurry into our pajamas after supper, make some hot chocolate, throw pillows on the floor in the family room and settle in to watch a Peanuts special.  It didn't matter which one, although A Charlie Brown Christmas is my favorite television production of all time, with Thanksgiving and Halloween closely behind.

The song that makes me so happy?  "Linus and Lucy" by Vince Guaraldi, jazzy, upbeat, just plain happy.  It makes me want to dance like those twins at the rehearsal for the Christmas pageant.  It reminds me of Snoopy, of course, that happy-go-lucky, go-with-the-flow, creative, joyful beagle of my heart.  My ENFP idol.

There are a lot of versions of the song out there, and aside from the one from the soundtrack to A Charlie Brown Christmas, my favorite version is George Winston's, from his album Linus and Lucy: The Music of Vince Guaraldi.

For all you writers out there, if you haven't already read Snoopy's Guide to the Writing Life, you should.  It's filled with humor, of course, as Snoopy struggles with countless rejections on his journey to become the World's Greatest Author, but it also offers insights and advice from more than 30 writers (who have seen their share of rejections as well).

For now, take 39 seconds and watch this.  Just see if it doesn't make you a tiny bit happier than you were before.
