Recharge: Winter Writing Retreat
I'm sure you'll all tired of me complaining about winter, the cold, the snow, the lack of sunlight. I'm tired of me complaining about winter. We've hit another patch of sub-zero temperatures, there's snow in the forecast, my kids have both outgrown their boots and need new ones, and I'm just done with it.
Back in my BK-Days (Before Kids), I would have taken some time off of work, bought a plane ticket, and headed south to Florida or Arizona or the Caribbean. I would have had coffee under palm trees and scribbled notes in my journal and enjoyed summery cocktails in the warm evening breeze. Now that I have to save my PTO for non-school days and there's a little less -- fun money, shall we say -- the nature of getaways has changed for me.
It's time to create a vacation in my head, a virtual getaway, if you will. While I'm at it, I thought I'd make it a writing retreat. I played around with the idea a bit, and then the March/April issue of Poets & Writers magazine landed in my mailbox. One of the cover stories? The Spring 2013 to Inspired Writers Retreats.
The decision was made. I'll make my own retreat.
I'd love for you to join me.
Beginning on Monday, February 25, join me for five days of imagining, dreaming, and writing. I'll discuss a different writing-related topic each day and provide prompts, writing exercises, and resources for additional study. You can choose to keep your work private or share it on your blog or website. Choose one day or all or any combination of the five, whatever works for you. It'll be cheap and easy and hopefully will bring you sunshine and calm and inspiration.
It's a getaway -- and a giveaway. At the end of the retreat, all participants will be eligible for a giveaway, to be announced on Friday, March 1st.
Want to participate? Please leave a comment below.
Also, I'd be forever grateful if you'd spread the word! If you happen to tweet about it, please use the hashtag #rechargeWWR (and follow me @sbiren). <3 Thank you!
Pack your bags, grab your boarding pass, and I'll meet you at the gate.
