YAB SWB Update: One Break, Coming Up Edition

Here is my Bootcamp update for the week.

My goals for last week included:
  • Tax prep. Seriously. No, I mean it.
  • Buy books with the BN gift card I got for my birthday (this should be easy).
  • Get back on track with reading and writing every day.
  • Continue 4:30 am writing time.
  • Finish the first draft of KEYS by Sunday, March 30.
  • Put together a preliminary itinerary for the North Shore Writing Retreat.
I accomplished all of these things - some of them more thoroughly than others.

I opened up the documents from our accountant and my husband called her office to find out the drop dead date that we have to bring them our tax materials. I call that a win. We have a goal to have everything to her office by Wednesday.

My book purchase for the week was one that I've been anxiously awaiting: THE STRANGE AND BEAUTIFUL SORROWS OF AVA LAVENDER by Leslye Walton.

From Goodreads: Magical realism, lyrical prose, and the pain and passion of human love haunt this hypnotic generational saga. I can hardly contain my excitement. I am going to savor this book.

It took a couple of days, but I did get back on track with my daily habits of reading and writing. I finished MAYBE ONE DAY by Melissa Kantor last night. While I wasn't all-out sobbing, my eyes leaked a bit. Beautiful story.

I wrote three mornings at 4:30 am and on the days I didn't, felt like something was missing. I'm going to shoot for four weekdays this week and five next week. I love #5amwritersclub!

I emailed a preliminary itinerary and tentative dates to my North Shore Writers Retreat friends. Looks like we'll be visiting in October, which means chilly temps but also campfires and pumpkin beer.

And, finally, I FINISHED MY FIRST DRAFT OF KEYS.

It feels so good to say that. I'm going to take a one-day break before I hit revisions/reconstructive surgery.

Here's my playlist for KEYS, which I've listened to about one million times while writing this thing.

Keys by Sara Biren on Grooveshark

Goals for this week:
  • Tax materials to accountant by Wednesday, April 2.
  • Begin revisions on KEYS, specifically a thorough read-thru and scene-by-scene spreadsheet. Because the last chapter of the book ended on page 93 of 255, and the only chronological pages are 1-30, this promises to be a lot of work and I feel like a spreadsheet might help me out.
  • 4:30 am writing hours Tuesday through Friday.
  • Twitter writing parties with Team Defiance. My teammates totally rock.
  • Read every day; write every day but Monday.
That's it for this week - hope your Bootcamp week went well!
