RTW: Change of Season
Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's
contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question to write
about on our own blogs. You can hop from destination to destination
and get everybody's unique take on the topic.
This week's topic: October!! It is SO fall! How does your writing (place, time, inspiration, etc) change with the seasons?
I wish I could say I was emerging from my writing cave to blog a little, but the truth is, I've been out of the cave for more than a week (and it's time to go back in). We had a huge(ly successful) event for work last Thursday night and I worked around the clock to get ready for it (mainly because I, uh, procrastinate and leave everything for the last minute). Hammer Guy helped me fold programs at the kitchen table late into the night on Wednesday. I took "in-house" printing to a new level.
Once the event was over, I was completely exhausted... and then had Hammer Guy's birthday and a camping trip on the weekend.
We're not really campers - or at least we weren't before this weekend. Hammer Guy used to camp a lot and I have great memories of sleeping out under the stars at campsites along the North Shore during college -- without tents. We all had a wonderful time and HG bought me an enamel tea kettle and four mugs because even if you have to use a latrine and have no running water for two days, you should never, ever go without coffee.
We had lovely weather - it was hot for late summer and got chilly at night. Birdy and I explored and went on nature walks while the boys did Scout things like archery and a climbing wall. We relaxed under a canopy of crisp autumn leaves, the breeze earthy and rich.

I love fall.
How does the change of season change my writing? It doesn't, really. Any season of the year, my writing time is random and precious and unpredictable.
I do get to enjoy Pumpkin Lattes at Caribou when I write there. That sounds wonderful right now. I think it's time to schedule a write-in very soon!
What do you love best about fall? Does your writing change with the seasons?
